Portland Night Market

Brief: Rebrand

Role: Visual Identity and implementation

Student Project

Summary

Portland Night Market is a quarterly event showcasing some of Portland, Oregon’s best vendors. My goal was to incorporate some of Portland’s DIY culture into the aesthetics of this wild and welcoming marketplace.

After researching the Market’s history, audience, and sellers, it became apparent that this large, diverse market needed branding that was consistent yet flexible and could appeal to the slightly older crowd seeking handmade, small business goods.

I opted to pursue a zine-influenced aesthetic because this draws on Portland’s history as an alternative, DIY mecca for bands and artists. The final brand guidelines have enough structure to feel consistent throughout different seasons and campaigns, while maintaining playfulness and flexibility.
